Happy Canada to Everyone - Today is July 1st!!!! Almost 1 month ago we celebrated Mazie's first birthday. I am not sure who it was a bigger deal for.....Mazie or us! After 1 year she has 9 teeth, loves to eat, predominately walks, does not sleep through the night, belly laughs and keeps us on our toes.....she can be a bit of a brute with Adli (watch out!) We had a music party for Mazie and her friends. Here she is with her shaker

Just wanted to update you all that Mazie is now 9 month olds and weighs 18lb 1oz. She just started crawling and has 6 teeth.....wow they grow fast. Adli is an amazing big brother, except when Mazie wants to play with his dino.........Here are some recent photo's.

3 year old, 3 almost 4 months, State fair, B-day, back to work!

I need to start this post by apologizing for not posting in almost 2 month. We have been having so much fun :) Since our last post we have been to the state fair in Iowa (Had so much fun - thanks Wade), went back to work part-time, had visitors from Indianapolis (The Taller Girls - we had a ball), had a 3rd birthday party at Grants Farm (Adli's school mates), went back to work full time, and Mazie adjusted to childcare (finally would take a bottle after 3 weeks - stubborn like her mom :). Here are a couple of pictures of our fun. Adli at the botanical gardens "viewing" the touchable, climbable art.

Life is crazy with two kids........as expected. Mazie is now 6 weeks - 10 lbs and growing strong. Here is a picture of Mazie sticking her tongue out. We have had lots of family visiting since Mazie's birth which has been so much fun. We finally explored St. Louis and it is not a bad city. We got a fun package from Kari that included Robbeez for Mazie, T-shirt for Adli and stickers all with the Canadian theme.....to help us remember our roots. Thanks - see Adli below giving a big thanks. Don't worry everyone - Adli already has his Canadian citizenship and can name the Canadian flag better than the US and Mazie will have her soon. And Yes we are working on the kids to say eh :)

All is well here.....definitely getting much less sleep but have had lots of help. My parents were here visiting (Thanks) and now Moe's parents are here. On Friday Moe's sister, husband and kids are coming. Adli is so excited that his older cousin Jonah is coming to visit!!!! Okay so excited that I can't even explain. Adli has it all planned out to what places we need to visit. Anyone got any suggestions??

Welcome Mazie! She was born June 3rd, 2008 at 1:52pm weighing 8 pounds 1 oz and is 20 1/2 inches long. Here she is hanging with Dad
Adli came to the hospital to visit. Adli is checking Mazie's head and then her toes.
Adli also had fun with Mazie's baby hat - pretty amazing that it also fit Adli's head. We are all doing fine and should be home from the hospital on Thursday.

The Last Month

Here is our update from St. Louis - I am still pregnant. Today I am 38 weeks and my biggest complaint is how big and round I am (will not show picture - I will spare you all) and how ugly my ankles are......I was told I have kankle :). Don't worry my blood pressure is good and the doctor says this is one of the joys of pregnancy. As soon as something happens we will put a post!

Fun with Adli

This past weekend there was an open house at our favorite community center - we go swimming there almost every Sunday. Adli got to ride on his first horse.
And enjoy the blow-up bouncy all to himself. He had a great time!
However, this was priceless. When we checked on Adli on Friday night this is what we found. I am not sure what was funnier.....the 30 books in his bed, the sprawled arms, belly showing - sleeping short........he almost looks like he is passed out from a late night bender. I guess this just shows the power books can have on a little one....they are intoxicating :)

Just wanted to pass along the great news the we have a new baby in the family......no it is not mine (I still have 5 weeks to go). Auntie Stephi, Uncle Darwin and cousin Jonah have a new arrival of a sweet little girl. She was born April 23rd, 2008 at 11:02pm. She is 7lbs and was named Elle Talia Lockhart. Congrats! (I was never sent a picture so I had to improvise :)

Fun Weekend

We had a really busy weekend from going to the wildlife preserve where Adli got to shot an air gun, having our basement framed, to going to the play ground, enjoying a Passover get-to-gether and having a playdate. However this was by far the funniest.

It started to run away.........Laundry baskets don't do this :)

Zoo and Jen's Birthday

The previous weekend we took Adli to the Zoo. He had a great time and really liked the carousel. Did you know every animal on this carousel is present at the zoo? We started on the giraffe and then moved to the horse (the giraffe did not move up and down). Upon moving to the new animal, I was told "no help mama"....... my little boy is growing up :(
This weekend was my birthday.....another year old. My Husband got this amazing cake for my b-day and I needed to show it off......... I have such a great husband!

This weekend Adli decided that we wanted to get dress in "clean" PJs, so he went to the closet and found some 4t's and put them on. Really his feet are not this big! Downstairs Moe and I were cooking breakfast and it got really quiet in the family room. When we checked on Adli this is what we saw!
For our Saturday outing we went to ToysRus. While Adli and I were in the wash room cleaning a not pleasant diaper we returned to this in our cart. Moe found it and said Adli needed one. I agreed because the box was really small. When we got home it was another story! This garage is huge. Alas Adli and Moe think it is really cool, so that is all the matters.
On Sunday morning it was my turn to make breakfast and my skills are not at the same level as Moe's. Adli and I made cinnamon buns from a tube. It was a fun working with Adli and as you can see eating our hard work was fun as well. The love of cinnamon buns is a genetic trait passed from generation to generation :)

This weekend was Adli's first Purim party. He dressed as King David and if I do say so he looks pretty regal! It was sponsored by the Jewish federation and the party involved story telling, lots of fun crafts and a yummy snack of hamentaschen. On Sunday Adli relaxed in a fun pair of pants that Oma gave him. Thanks for the ambulance and rescue truck pants - Adli found them in the closet and even put them on himself!!!

Washington DC

We had a great time in DC. This was a family/work trip. Moe and I went to the maize meetings and Bev and Morley joined us to help with Adli. All and all a fun time. Here is a picture of Adli with FDR's dog. If you touch his ears it is suppose to bring good luck - Adli liked his feet
After numerous long and adventurous days - Adli would fall asleep with his reading light on (Can't really tell in this picture but the room is completely dark with just the little light). The yellow blanket is called his "Giggi"
We took Adli twice the the museum of natural history and he LOVED the dinosaurs

Oh and then Moe picked up this great necklace for me - Now what dress will I wear this with. Okay so if I had tried to take this home I would be in jail - I guess the hope diamond will have to stay at the museum :)
Also they let Adli hold a cockroach. I told the lady that she would have to put her hand to catch because there was NO way I could touch it - freaked me out! Adli thought it was sooooo cool and was very proud of himself.
We then went to the air and space museum and Adli was not sure if these were real or not. This was a fun trip, saw lots more than shown and even learned about cool science stuff. Just to give everyone a little dose of science "The corn genome is sequenced!"

Mexico and Snow?

I just got back from a week of work in Mexico. It was a beautiful resort, however we got very little time to have free-time. Lots of talking science and presenting, so no great tan for me.
Monsanto did take everyone on an outing. I chose golf, however as you can tell from this picture maybe someone in my condition should not be doing this. I had this belly that kept getting in the way!!! This is what I look like at 6.5 months can you imagine what I will look like at the end :)
When I got back to St. Louis we had snow. Moishe built a family of snowmen. Aren't we cute!
Adli loved paying in the snow - as you can tell by the fleece that he is wearing that it is probably 36F. Adli was having a ball putting his blue chair in the snow and sitting on a snow bank (Zeda, you still need to fix this one......as Adli will tell you)

We started another round of swimming lesson but at a new pool with a very nice teacher named Megan. Adli is doing very well in the class, but does not always like working on his kicking, especially on his back
Megan told all the kids that they could use goggles for swimming. Adli liked them at home, but not in the pool. Do you like the icing on his cheek? We made cinnamon buns for breakfast.

Two weeks past we took Adli to the zoo and because it has been pretty cold here we only visited in the indoor animals. Adli really liked the monkeys or did they like him.....

Palm Springs

We had a great time in Palm Springs! On one of our numerous outings we took Adli to the Children's Museum. Here they let him paint a car. It was sooo cool and Adli really made a good mark on the car - this is what he looked like when he started, when he was finished a bumper , his hands and a tire was all pink!

Here is Adli driving the golf cart at the Mission Hills Country Club. The best part is he did actually did get to drive it (Thanks auntie Marion).....sitting on my lap of course. Adli was actually pretty good at driving :)
Here is our family photo from the lunch - from left to right (Marion and David Korn, Morrison, Adli, Jen, Morley and Bev Jacobs). Isn't the back ground beautiful! I think the view alone could improve your golf game.
At the condo there was a private "hot pool". Here is Adli enjoying......I should note that the condo complex had a total of 10 different pool and we tried very hard every day to go swimming.

We are now back in St. Louis and the weather is much cooler than Palm Springs........our thin Canadian blood is not doing well - I think the southern climate is making us soft!

Hanukkah

This year Hanukkah has been fun! Numerous parties, having family over, Adli reminding us to wear our keppas, hearing Adli sing the prayers loud and proud the last night, all the wonderful presents (Adli scored this year.....thanks everyone for spoiling him rotten ;) and way to many latkas!
We are off to warmer lands next week (Palm Springs) ....you know how terrible Missouri winters can be and hopefully we will all return relaxed and tanned....okay I know we have a 2 year old so many be a tan :)

Winter is upon us in Missouri...okay so we have no snow and it is just about 32F but our Canadian blood is cold cold cold. Even Adli who has never lived through a Winnipeg winter is cold. Can we say the Jacobs' are soft! Here is a picture of Adli this morning, asking for his blankets and warm milk to watch elmo.....maybe Daddy needs to turn up the heat :)

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Adli had a special lunch at school to celebrate. His room was in charge of making cranberries. I was so lucky to be invited to lunch and WOW was the food great. Sad that very few ate the meal (adli included). Adli did enjoy grape juice, his and mine. These were the cool turkey hats that they made.
We had a wonderful time visiting Debbie, Brent, Max and Nat. Thanks for having us! Had a fabulous thanksgiving where I am still dreaming about the steak tenderloin (it was so good that it melted in my mouth and after one bite turkey was not an option). This is Adli enjoying the car ride - two blankets, his dog and way to much MacDonalds.

In other news - we wanted to let everyone know that we are expecting baby number two. On June 6th (if babies really come on due dates) our family should be one plus. We will keep you posted on the progress!

Zeda Z is in Town!

Adli's favorite Zeda Z is in town and he is having a "great time" quote from Adli. We went to the zoo (because that is Adli's favorite place and we think the zoo is pretty amazing). Here is Adli feeding the ducks/fish with Moe for added protection. Is he really watching Adli!!!!

Adli went into the butterfly house but clung to me and I had to tell him over and over that butterflies don't hurt. Also that if one touches you - then you are special. Still very beautiful and it is sponsored by Monsanto

Zeda loves trains and there is a great one that goes all the way around the zoo - under waterfalls, in tunnels, and through secluded areas. Alas this day Adli decided he did NOT want to ride the train. Maybe next time Zeda!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was fun at our house - Here is Adli as a Lion going to the party put on by Monsanto. Lots of fun - balloons, face painting, games and candy. After the party we went home and got ready for trick-or-treating. Adli lasted for about 30 minutes, walked the whole way, and then thought it would be more fun to wait for kids to come to his house.

Weekend in Indianaplois with the "Taller's"

Lets focus in on what Adli is playing with. It is the aquarium crib. You think it is to late to put in his crib??
On Saturday Evie and Adli were in a parade. They got to put on their costumes (Evie a bride and Adli a Lion). The firemen gave out hats and the community gave out candy. It was fun to walk behind the fire engine (A little loud for the parents but that is okay!)

After the parade we went to the children's museum. WOW this place was great. We saw dinosaurs, and Trains (okay there was so much more but these were Adli's favorite). This picture is for you Zede. Best part of the train display is the kids could go under and look through bubbles. We had a great time - Thanks Jenni, Jim, Evie and Annalise!

Visiting with Chava and Moishe

We had a wonderful visit with Moe's parents (Chava and Moishe). The came from Winnipeg and spent the holidays with us. We do so many fun things - here are some highlights! Adli ready to go on one of our numerous adventures.......he sure has filled out the car seat (I remember when he was a little peanut and barely fit into the seat). This is also a picture of one of our new cars - Mazda 5 with enough room from 5 adults and a car seat, best part is that it has van door but it is still a car!!!!
We went the Grants farm and no not just for the free beer - Adli like the animals and of course pushing the stroller.
Chava and Moishe brought so many wonderful toys, however the favorite is the airplane - Thanks Kari-lynne for the space man, they like to fly in the plane as well.
Towers are always fun to build especially when Moishe helps!
Oh the other fun thing at Grants farm is feeding the baby goats. As you can see both Moe and Adli are enjoying themselves. We needed to add that Grant's farm is very smart they get patrons to pay to feed there animals - good little racked :).
All and all it was a fun visit and we look forward to seeing them soon.

Visit with Oma

Oma flew in from Victoria, BC Canada to visit for 2 weeks. We had a blast visiting St. Louis sites and hanging with Adli. Oma survived the heat and said she would return but maybe not in August again :) We look forward to your next visit - hopefully soon

We went to Grants Farm in St. Louis. It was a wonderful place owned by Anahieser-Busch. You get a tour of the land (over 250 acres), feed baby goats and chickens, see elephants, feed camels (as shown by Adli), and the beatiful horses. To end you get two free adult drinks. What could get better than that!

2nd Birthday

Adli celebrated his 2nd birthday this week. To start the festivities Adli woke to a kitchen and fruit/veggie stand. This is what it looked like when he started......

and this is what the kitchen looked like while the chef was in! We think he likes it. My favorite is the Elmo shoes - thanks Oma!

And this is the delivery option. Moe has just enjoyed a hamburger, hot dog and banana's.....oh but wait the delivery boy stole the hot dog bun!!!
After all the deliveries are complete the chef must rest!

Besides enjoying all his presents. Adli had cake at school with all his friend (pictures to come) and then we had dinner out with his friend Logan. A pretty busy day with lots of sugar for a little boy!

For all those sleepless nights and numerous tanrums it all disapears when you see a face like this. Aldi is turning two in exactly 2 weeks and Moe and I can not believe how wonderful our lives have changed.

3 Months Later

Okay Okay so I know it has been forever since I have done a post.....so sorry.....
Lets update you all on the summer in St. Louis. Well it is HOT - Hotter than I thought a place could be, so we have been focusing on indoor activities. In fact we tell Adli it is too hot to play outside and now he says "To hot mommy - stay inside". Thank goodness the winters are mild to make up for it. Here are a couple pictures of us having fun. As you can see watermelon is even better with LARGE utensils

On Saturday morning we have started the tradition of having Moe made blueberry pancake and for Adli his special request is BACON (don't worry it is turkey:) - However Moe would prefer the other white meat. If you look closely in the photo you can see the cantaloupe - Adli like his is ball form....so fancy

Adli is making great progress on toilet training - at school he used the toilet for peeing and we were told today that he woke up dry after nap. Home is a completely different story - no peeing in the potty. Anyhow I found Calvin Klein boxer-brief shorts and we used them for sleeping..but gosh isn't this cute! One day soon we hope he will be wearing them for real.

Lessons from Dad on how to get a girl.
Number 1: Dress well and look cute

Number 2: Complement on how great her outfit is.....wow that is a great G! Watch out where you touch - it might be considered as too quick of an advance

Number 3: Watch for a response and smile (works with all the girls!)
Number 4: Go in for the kiss (and aim for the lips - Adli still needs to work on this part). Dad is proud to see how fast Adli works with the laddies.

2 months since our last post!

Wow life has been busy in the Jacobs' house. In March we went to the Maize Meetings in Chicago (okay outside Chicago in a subdivision called St. Charles). Fun meetings. The following week we all flew to Winnipeg for 10 days for Passover. Spent some great times with the Family.

Here is a photo of Jen and Adli at the airport - Jen looks calm but on this insides was screaming for a drink! Just Kidding Dad!

One morning Cousin Jonah, Adli, Jen, Moe and Morley enjoyed the pool at the JCC - This pool rocks, zero clearance entrance and a slide.

Adli loved running around Moe's parents house - here is Adli with his favorite shirt on (Cookies Monster) saying where are you to Moe's Dad....he loved being chased by him, however Adli still won't say Moishe......we are working hard on this :)

After the Winnipeg trip we got great news the Moe got a position with Monsanto. He is a functional Architect. Okay he is not building anything, he is the liaison between the scientist and the computer scientist. He started 1 week ago and seems to be enjoying things. In bad news the 91 dodge spirit was in a car accident with a H3 and the outcome was not good.......we put the spirit too rest in car heaven. However, the Jacobs' are the proud owner of TWO new cars!!!!! We got twins :) Faternal!
Moe has a black Mazda 5 and Jen has a silver PT Cruiser.
Life is good in St. Louis and we are finally getting into a routine.... I will try to keep up with blogging!!!

Our Trip to Minneapolis

We spent the last couple of day in Minneapolis. My mom had her Ph.D. defence, which she told me she passed....never got to go, but Yeah Mom! Instead I spent the day with Gregory, Amanda, Aaron and Tobi....much more fun. On Saturday Gregory, Amanda, Dadda, Brent, Debbie and Max all went to the childrens museum... So much fun. I spent Sunday morning with Jenni, Jim, Evie and Annalise. Breakfast was great, Jenni is a fabulous cook. We stayed with Debbie, Brent and Max - It was fabulous and they had great hospitality and yummy food. Staying with Max I learnt one thing.....my parents are holding out on me, Max has fun toys! Come on Mom and Dadda!!!

Mom and Dad already have me pulling all nighters, working on the computer, answering calls and writing......gosh I don't even know my numbers yet!!
I think I look pretty good shirtless....watch out ladies!

We took this picture in the middle of the night. He sure looks happy on his pillow and two favorite blankets and one spare (you never know when you need an extra blanket!)
About a week ago we actually got lots of snow - I will report exactly 1 week later we have none. Anyhow, Adli is not a big fan of snow. Looks like he missed the "Canadian - snow genes"

We signed Adli up for swim class and he loves it. The pool is a walk in and there is a vortex pool - so cool. I like because it is warm!

Summary of the last few weeks

We seem to go to Sam's club a lot! Enough that Adli knows the sign from the outside no matter which location...eliciting the following, "Cookie, cookie, cookie" then "Hot dog, hot dog, hot dog".

We are learning our body parts...which can be a hazard sometimes...like pointing out eyes without having a finger put into your own eye... so Adli now knows "Eye brow" which is much safer. Here Adli is checking out if his tongue is bigger.

Botanical Garden

We went to see the Chihuly exhibit before it is removed. The Botanical gardens cover a few hundred acres, so get your walking shoes on!
Like our travels to the zoo we could start another blog with all of the pictures of the Chihuly.

Inside the Climatron Adli discovered his calling...future rice farmer.

We took some time out to smell the roses...sorry had to say it. We did not show the next sequence of photos of Adli eating the rose...that should be an interesting diaper change at child care tomorrow!

The Zoo...Again!

We were the first people in the zoo (easy when you get up at 5am), the animals were hungry and Aldi wanted to help...he should like rice cake!

Okay so we only had one rice cake and now there are three peacocks... this was a good idea when there was one but they are scary when there is a flock...Do they bite?

Adli and the Hippo...not the same ring to it as Jonah and the Whale but it might catch on.

First night of Channuka

I opened my first Channuka gift...after much encouragment from Mom and Dad...they seemed
to be more excited about this event then I was! I'm still not sure what Channuka is but after we light some candles and sing some strange songs, I get to open a gift...good deal!

Mom and Dad got me a new chair that is just my size......it even reclines.....this is the life!

Today I was really busy.....Dad and Mom left me alone for alittle to long. I found the best room ever. It has water and paper, best of all you can take the water out of the bowl! To muh fun!

On Father's Day we went to Como Zoo and I went on the Carousel again.....this time I was not so sure about things :)

Bath with bubbles....the greatest thing ever

I love beans...... but my favorite is WATERMELLON! I could eat it morning, lunch and dinner.
